Anna Cataldo is a self-taught sound designer and musician. Her favorite instrument is the Buchla Music Easel, a semi-modular analog synth that showed her everything she knows about listening, experimenting, and impermanence. Her work is an immersive blend of long-form compositions and vivid sound effects, drawing on experiments in synthesis and analog Foley practices.

Anna’s interest in sound design took shape while working with Design I/O, a creative studio who specializes in the design and development of interactive installations and new forms of storytelling. Her experience ranges from multi-channel interactive audio for immersive installations to full-length video game soundtracks, with a particular lean towards experiences that nurture unconventional, open play.

Anna’s style strikes a balance between repetition and the unexpected, an approach built by pure lack of training & a curious, intuitive ear. She lives in New York and by night plays in punk bands Dame, Exit Order, and XX-Rosa.
